The Packet Ledger
A programme for people who already have an analytics tool and still cannot agree, in a meeting, what an “activate” event means. We teach the dictionary first.
Who it is for
Product managers, product analysts, and the engineer who keeps getting asked to “just add the event.” You should already ship an iOS, Android, or Flutter app — we do not teach mobile engineering.

Modules

1. Verbs that outlive the design system
Screen names, component IDs, and A/B suffixes are stripped out of candidate events. You rewrite twenty names from your own export.

2. Properties as a grid, not a junk drawer
Cardinality, PII, and the properties that secretly duplicate the user table. A marked-up spreadsheet is the assignment, not a quiz.

3. Identity joins without folklore
Anonymous to known, device to person, and what you will refuse to stitch. Taught with United Kingdom privacy constraints in the same week.

4. Cohort contracts
Start event, inclusion window, exclusion rules. If finance cannot restate the contract, the chart is not finished.

5. Funnels with named leaks
Each drop-off is labelled instrumentation, product, or expectation. Week 10 is a critique, not a showcase.

6. The board pack
Two slides and an appendix dictionary. We deduct marks for spark-lines that hide a join you cannot explain.
Learning outcomes
- A written event dictionary covering one core loop of your app, reviewed once in writing.
- A cohort definition you can read aloud without opening the vendor UI.
- A funnel diagram that lists leaks instead of implying a smooth staircase.
- Language for refusing a tracking request that would break the grid.
Questions we are asked
Do you implement tracking in our production app?
No. The Packet Ledger is tuition. We review names, properties, and joins. We will not open your repo, ship a release, or configure a vendor project on your behalf.
Is there a certificate?
You receive a letter confirming attendance and that a dictionary was reviewed. It is not accredited by a university and we do not sell badges.
What will this programme not cover?
We do not teach ad-network attribution, pixel placement in Meta Ads Manager, SKAN postbacks, or how to inflate a return-on-ad-spend slide. If that is the brief, this is the wrong studio. It is a genuine gap, not a humble-brag.
Can I sit only the recordings?
Grid Studio includes live clinics. Recordings of those clinics are for people who miss 09:30 UK time, not a substitute Desk Licence. Desk Licence is a different, cheaper seat without a reviewed dictionary.
From recent cohorts
I wanted a template library. What I got was a list of events Helen crossed out in red. Our onboarding packet is smaller and the Friday argument is shorter.
Week 4 on identity was slower than the brochure implied. I still use the exclusion rules from the cohort contract every Monday.
